Status: Residents in UK. Wing Span: 28mm to 36mm. Flight Period: July and August. Habitat: They both like grassy habitats like road side verges, commons, heaths, gardens, parks and other grassy area's. Comment: The two species are common and wide spread in the UK. |

Status: Resident in UK. Wing Span: 25mm to 30mm. Flight Period: July and August. Habitat: Grassy places like sand hills, sea cliffs, marshes, commons, disused railway lines, road side verges. Comment: Common resident in England, Wales Ireland and mainland Scotland. It is wide spread and is more common on the coast. |

Status: Resident in UK. Wing Span: 22mm to 28mm. Flight Period: July into September. Habitat: They inhabit sand hills, sea cliffs, down land, grassy embankments, roadside verges, disused railway lines and waste ground. Comment: Common is to be found all over the UK. It appears to most common in coastal habitats. |
The ground colour of the fore wings is extremely variable, the colour ranges from pale grey through light to dark brown. The extent of the darker transverse band on the wing can vary as well. The Lesser Common Rustic can appear identical to the Common Rustic. It has recently been ascertained that Remm's Rustic is in fact a hybrid of the Common, and Lesser Common Rustics. |

Comment: The Rufous Minor is only common in the south of the UK. In Scotland it is local and scarce. The other to similar species are common throughout the UK. |
