Grey-headed Lovebird: 

UK Status:  This bird is a native to Madagascar, a large island off the African coast. They can be seen in wildlife parks and zoo's in the UK.

Habitat: Found in sparsely wooded palm woods, forest edges, degraded forest, scrubby areas and on agricultural land up to five thousand feet in altitude. They feed on fruit, green leaves, grass seed and the flowers of grass before the seed forms.

Breeding: The female birds have a unique way of carrying nesting material, instead of using their beaks, she lodges them in her body plumage. These birds are cavity nesters, and the nesting chamber within the cavity are lined with chewed leaves. Three to six white eggs are laid in a clutch.

Comment: This bird is a fairly popular pet in mant parts of the world. The birds are sexually dimorphic, only the males have the grey head. These birds are known for their very affectionate nature to each other, and pair for life, they really are Lovebirds.
