Status: Resident in UK.

Wing Span: 30mm to 38mm.

Flight Period: May and June, again in August and September.

Habitat: These moths can be encountered in many different habitat types.              

Comment: This species is a common, and widely distributed resident through out the British Isles.

Status: Resident in UK.

Wing Span: 35mm to 39mm.

Flight Period: March to early June.

Habitat: Open wood land, parks and gardens on the edge of towns.

Comment: This moth is an uncommon and rather localised resident. It is to be found in southern England and Wales, the south and west Midlands, the Lake District and Yorkshire.

Status: Resident in UK.

Wing Span: 26mm to 34mm.

Flight Period: June into August.

Habitat: This is not a moth to be seen around the town, it prefers isolated moor and heath land. Though occasionally it may be seen on the fringe of rural area's, where they adjoin town suburbs. 

Comment: Well distributed resident to the moors, and heath lands of the UK

UK Status: Resident and Migrant.

Wing Span: 50mm to 60mm.

Flight Period: June until September, in single protracted brood.

Habitat: These moths are found in a wide variety of habitats.

Comment: Wide spread throughout the UK. Very common some years, the resident population being re-enforced by migrants.
