Status: Resident in UK. Wing Span: 32mm to 38mm. Flight Period: May to July, again in July until September. Habitat: Gardens, woods, waste ground, hedgerows where Stinging Nettle grow. Comment: Common and wide spread over most of the UK, including Orkney and Hebrides. |

Status: Resident in UK. Wing Span: 34mm to 40mm. Flight Period: June into July, sometimes again in August tand September. Habitat: Marshes, disused railways, waste ground, hedgerows and gardens. Comment: This moth is moderately common in most of England, Wales, Isle of Man and Ireland. Local and scarce in Scotland. |

UK Status: Resident & Migrant . Wing Span: 32mm to 52mm. Flight Period: May until Autumn. Habitat: Most open spaces with the food plants and nectar bearing flowers. Comment: A common immigrant and resident in the UK. There is a scarcer dwarf aberration, ab. gammina. Ab. Autographa nigricans is a rare melanic velvety black variation. |
