Satyr Tragopan:  

UK Status: Native to parts of Asia, in the UK thede birds can be found in zoo's and wildlife parks.

Habitat: Satyr Tragopan are to found in the lower elevations in the Himalaya's, in India, Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan.  They prefer Oak woodland with a fair amount of Rhododendron and Bamboo undergrowth.

Breeding: This bird nest in trees and shrubs at least a few feet off the ground. Nests are made of sticks and twigs, two, or three buff coloured egs are laid, the eggs have darker mottling and blotches over their surface.

Comment:  This bird is also known as the Crimson Horned Pheasant, males grow blue horns, and inflate them as a mating display to attract females. The species only has a modest population, it is thought that hunting is at least partially responsible for it's low numbers.
