Red Kangaroo:  

UK Status: Native to Australia, in the UK it can be seen in some zoo's.

Habitat: This Kangaroo inhabits the western and central parts of Australia. It can be found in grassland, deserts and scrubland, all of which must have a few trees for shade. Kangaroo's eat green grasses flowers and shrubs, they gather in large numbers near to water courses. They are capable of conserving their internal water, making them capable of living in arid habitats.

Breeding: These mammals breed all the year around, females have the ability to delay birth when they become pregnant, if while still having a young Joey in their pouch. Birth is usually 33 days after impregnation, the newborn, blind and helpless Joey crawls through its mothers abdomen fur to the inside of her pouch, where it latches onto a teat. Soon after this the female becomes sexually receptive again. Joey's take about one hundred and ninety days to reach full maturity, and become independent.
