Honesty:

UK Status: Introduced in the distant past from Asia, but has become completely naturalised in the wild. This cruciferous plant can be annual, or can also be a biennial.

Flowering Period: Flowers from as early as late March, through into the early summer. Flowers vary in colour from pink, through to purple. Tends to grow in dryer situations, such as hedgerows and grass verges.

Appx Height: From about 30cm to 90cm tall

Habitat: This plant can be found in dryer situations like hedgerows, woodland rides, grass verges and canal sides.

Comment: This plant is attractive looking, and can be used by some butterflies as a food plant for their larvae. Orange-tip and Green-veined White butterflies have been known to lay their eggs on the plant. The seed heads and stalks are sometimes used in dried flower arrangements.
