Rosebay Willowherb:

UK Status: Native and Resident, though was still a rare plant in the 18th century. During the consecutive two centuries it became a common plant. It is probably the most cfommon of the various species of Willowherb found in the UK.

Flowering Period: From June through to September.

Appx Height: Grows up to 1.5 metres in height.

Habitat: This plant likes calcareous through to slightly acidic soil types.

Comment: This plant is an early coloniser, and is one of the first plants to appear in a cleared area of ground. It became know during the Second World War as the 'Fireweed', it was often seen on sites that had been bombed, and quickly made it's mark.
