My Venture into Serious Birding

Although I took a few bird photographs during the thirty years that I was interested in entomology, I only became seriously interested in birds during late August, and early September 2022. When I got going in 2022 I had a serious interest in water fowl, and still do. Since though I have diverged into other bird groups, and now have a very varied portfolio.

Since then I have added hundreds of new pictures and dozens of species of birds to my portfolio. I was struggling to get any new species in early 2024. I broke my duck in mid April by adding Bullfinch and Stock Dove, plus several wild flowers.

As well as feeding the larger birds on our garage roof, I have now added a feeding station during early June, for the smaller birds. Fingers crossed for me.

My June holiday in Norfolk added a lot of new images to my collection, including several new species.

Since Norfolk, we have made trips to Lotherton Hall, Leeds, Tropical World in Leeds, RSPB Fairburn Ings and some of our local pools and lakes.

Not having much luck with the feeders, barely any visitors to them. Then they collapsed in high winds in late December.

As the year has passed by, I have added even more new species. Also lots of new pictures of birds that I already have on the website. This page depicts what was probably my best image in each month of 2024. At the bottom of this page are a few that came close in second place. The next page, 'The Best of 2024' shows a larger selection of some of my better images from 2024.
