Status: Resident in UK.

Wing Span: 29mm to 34mm.

Flight Period: May and June, again in August and September.

Habitat: Found in gardens, hedgerows, parks, waste ground, where willowherb grows.

Comment:  This moth is common and well distributed through out England and Wales. Less common in Scotland and Ireland.

Status: Resident in UK.

Wing Span: 30mm to 36mm.

Flight Period: September and October, again after hibernation in April and May.

Habitat: Wooded area's,  like parks and gardens with deciduous trees.

Comment: This species is, quite common locally and is distributed throughout the UK

Two more very similar species

The Common Marbled and Dark Marbled Carpets have variations that are very similar. The single brood of Dark Marbled fly between the two generations of the Common Marbled, and the two somewhat species can over lap somewhat, making identification difficult.

Status: Resident in UK.

Wing Span: 32mm to 39mm.

Flight Period: May and June, again into August to October.

Habitat: Most places where tree's, shrubs and heathers grow, like parks, gardens, woodland, heaths, commons, moor land, etc.

Comment: This moth is common in the UK, but  is absent in Shetland.
