UK Status: Resident.

Wing Span: 38mm to 47mm.

Flight Period: May and June.

Habitat: Clearings, and rides in newly coppiced woods. Found on well drained grass with light scrub and bracken.

Comment: Found in the south and south west of England, wide spread in Wales and western England, also in north west England. All over Scotland, and in the west of Ireland.        

UK Status: Resident.

Wing Span: 35mm to 44mm.

Flight Period: June and July.

Habitat:  Wood rides, glades and clearings. Also found on damp grass land and moors.

Comment: Found in the south and south west of England, through out Wales and western England. Found in north  England and through out Scotland. Absent from Ireland.

UK Status: Resident.

Wing Span: 58mm to 68mm.

Flight Period: June to August.

Habitat: Open Wood land, open scrub, moors and grass land. South facing slopes with bracken are favoured.

Comment: Wide spread through out the UK. It is scarce and local in Ireland. It is most heavily concentrated in the south and south west of England.

UK Status: Resident.

Wing Span: 56mm to 75mm.

Flight Period: June to August.

Habitat: Open Wood land, open scrub and grass land. South facing slopes with bracken are favoured.

Comment: In danger of extinction, there a very few colonies left.  These are distributed in the west England.

UK Status: Resident.

Wing Span: 54mm to 66mm.

Flight Period: June to August.

Habitat: Deciduous wood land, with an abundance of Honeysuckle. Some times colonising young conifer plantations, but once the tree's grow and shade out the light it inevitably disappears.

Comment: This species is increasing its range in recent years, and can be found in England as far north as Lincolnshire.

UK Status: Resident.

Wing Span: 70mm to 92mm.

Flight Period: July and August.

Habitat:  A wood land species that inhabits both deciduous and mixed wood lands.

Comment: This species in only found in southern England, and some parts of south west England and some midlands counties  It is a very localised species.
